As its name clearly suggests, this is a free video conversion tool which supports several of the most popular video formats around. The latest version of the program introduces support for HD video conversion, too. Besides, this tool supports converting multiple source files at once in batches, and it also includes a novel YouTube video downloader.
The program offers a fairly modest and simple user interface, which lacks many of the functions offered by the major video converters available. However, I still think it's worth giving this tool a try, considering it's a free and very easy-to-use app. Basically, all you need to do is create your conversion list and select your desired output format – then you are ready to launch the video conversion process. Previously, you can also tweak any of the video and audio parameters provided, such as the video bit rate, its frame rate, its resolution, and its aspect, as well as the audio codec, its bit rate, its sampling rate, and the number of channels.
This free video converter also includes a simple but full-featured video player, which allows you to preview any of the source files previously added. However, this player also provides a new and helpful feature ─ it allows you to define start and end points to trim your source video, and so extract a portion of it.
As I stated before, a YouTube downloader is also included in this program. You can add to a download list any number of YouTube video URLs. You can also remove elements from that list and change their download order. Finally, you can select the download format among three available options: MP4/HD MP4, FLV, and 3GP. This module, however, doesn't download the YouTube videos as soon as you press the "OK" button. Rather, it adds those videos to your general conversion list and downloads them in the background during the conversion process.
To sum up, I consider that this video converter offers a reasonably good set of features, being that it is completely free. Unfortunately, the program supports very few output formats as compared to the average video converter – namely, FLV, AVI, MPEG, and DVD.
